Busted!
This must be the year of the buck ethics test. I went up into my backcountry piece in with my climber. The area I set up on has several rubs, a couple of scrapes and plenty of deer sign. I dragged some Tinks 69 on the way in and was up in my climber by 1430. The wind was blowing the wrong way, but within an hour itchanged and was coming out of the west. It was a beautiful night to be in a tree taking in all New Hampshire has to offer. Atabout1715 hours (too late to shoot), Idescend from my perch andwhile doing so, I hear a deer walking towards me.The deer stops at about twenty-five yards and I can't locate it. Isit still, approxiamtley ten feet off the ground, not wanting to spook the deer. At thispoint,I am hoping the deer walks away withoutwinding me. No luck! He walks directlyat me.Now I can see he is wide racked bruiser, 200+ lbs. He walks within 5 yards of me and then catchesmy scent. He bounds off and stops at about thirtyyards and commences blowing................After about five minutes he walks off. I hope I didn't spook himout ofthe area???????????????Boy do I love this time of year!
