Before the shot, I don't get buck fever at all. I just see an animal that is about to be dead hopefully. I don't know why or how, but I kind of pull myself away from it emotionally, and look at it as a job. I see an animal that I need, that I have been waiting for, and its now time to get the job done. I sight them up, put the scope where it needs to be, and when they quit moving, i send a little lead poisoning their way. There is no emotion involved from the point where I first see the deer, to the point when i walk up on him and find him dead.

Once I see him dead, its a whole different game. That's when the fever hits me. Sometimes i start laughing for no apparent reason, sometimes, i get a big sh!t eating grin that wont leave my face for the next 5 minutes, but it never happens until i find him dead on the ground and I know its a done deal.
