I have seen plenty of deer killed with a regular old .22LR out to about 50-60 yds. I don't know why people think you need a cannon to kill a deer. If you use a decent expanding bullet there easy to kill. Just make sure she's comfortable with the gun, can make a decent shot, and she will have no problem at all.
