Default My trip to Colorado

Well I know it's been a while since I've been back but I just now got time to get back on here.

My buddy and I headed up there and met up with "imyourhuckleberry" and his friends. What a great group of guys! I can't thank Will and his friends enough for the hospitality and willingness to help us out.
THANKS Will !!!

Here's the really short story:

We met up with Will at camp Saturday 9-13-08 just after noon. After shooting a few arrows to double check everything we headed out. I'm not gonna say too much about how beautiful it is in Colorado because it would take too much time. It's absolutely gorgeous!!!
We hunted Saturday til dark and didn't see any elk. Sunday we hunted all day except for a lunch break at camp. Will and I had a close encounter with a couple of mulie fawns that were playing around and doin a little boxing. They came running through the trees right at us and stopped about 15-20 yards in front of us and boxed a little and then took off and ran past us. I tried to get my camera out of my pocket but I didn't have time. A while after that we saw a doe mule deer from a ways off. That was all we saw that morning.
Sunday afternoon I found out for sure that my house had gotten flooded by hurricane Ike. It made things very difficult to concentrate on hunting but I tried. Sunday evening and Monday my buddy and I hunted together. Sunday eve we didn't see anything. Monday we stayed in the woods all day and covered a LOT of ground. We didn't see any elk but we saw a lot a elk sign and a lot of beatiful country. The whole time I just kept thinking about my house and the work that needed to be done. By the end of the day and a couple hours before dark, I just couldn't take it anymore, I knew I needed to get home. So we headed back to camp to load up. I truly hated to leave early but it was the right thing to do,....I guess.

I will definitely be making this trip again!

Here's just a few pics from the trip.

My buddy Steve.

Here's a buck's skull that Will and I ran across on Sunday morning.

Anybody recognize this fella?

Here's doe we saw after we were in the truck on the way back to camp Monday evening.

Even though the trip was short and I didn't even get to see an elk, I loved every second of it. I can't wait to go back!!!

Thanks for letting me share.
