Another one gone old school, I love it! Sounds like you've gotten advice from a good source, and I think you're wise to search out an experienced local flinter to help show you the ropes.

I was fortunate to get some great advice from the previous owner of my flintlock rifle. Between that and some helpful tips from the mz message boards, the transition from inlines was very pleasant. Exciting, actually. None of the misfire/hangfire horror stories I'd heard about sidelocks.
