I would still be gagging. The scope manufacturer will probably send you new caps for nothing, the damage on the end of the barrel could be very lightly and repeatedly peened with a tiny hammer to smooth most of that out - if it's shiny afterwards a bit of light rubbing insmall circular motions with a real ScotchBrite pad will dull it and if you are very careful it will be a close match to the original finish. The extractor shouldn't cost too much and TC might even be generous if you tell them what happened.
