Default RE: Shot one tonight.....

He offers me a shot at 43, but it was too quick. He gives me another at 32- I draw back and before I could settle my pin, my arrow goes flying over his back. My frozen fingers had hit my release.

Seeing as how it was windy and rainy- he didnt really spook. I grab another arrow and he gives me a 37yard shot.

BAM- perfect hit. You literally couldnt walk up and put the arrow in a better spot. He mule kicks, hunches his back, tucks his ail and runs off.
Ok DT......

I need some clarification for a few of the statements you made in your first post.

1st. Why, after missing the buck in a cold, windy and rainy situation at 32 yards would you again take another shot at an even longer distance???

2nd.You are not only positive of your hit you also describe he animals reaction, you said the buck mule kicked and hunched, tucks his tail and runs off.I don't know about anyone else but I've never seen a deer mule kick and hunch when hit in a a front leg, not a elbow or shoulder joint.

Now I've never arrowed a deer in a front leg joint but I did with a gun and the deer reared up and sped off limping badly. He didn't hunch and certainly didn't mule kick (hard to do with a damaged front joint) no, instinctivelya deer hit in the front leg will favor that leg not mule kick and put more weight on the wounded leg.

I recovered the deer only because the bullet carried on into the deer but my point was how the deer reacted to a front leg hit. It was very obvious how the deer ran away, he was favoring his left front leg and I knew right then and there I'd hit him in the leg. I suspect you should have seen something similar as well.

What makes you think you hit him in the front leg by the way you say the deer reacted to the shot???
Just seen a show the other day(not sure which one) and the guy grazed the buck across the back and it jumped and mule kicked BIG TIME. It was a miss. I couldnt believe he missed by the deers reaction!
