Default RE: Pistol for Protection While Hunting

ORIGINAL: redmag

After a recent incident while bowhunting for bears in Southern WV I am considering getting a handgun to carry as protection from bears. I am looking for something inexpensive just for that purpose only, can anyone recommend such a pistol? I know I will will need a carry permit to do so.

i am from WI and according to the warden i spoke with and in the hunter's manual or whatever you call it, you can carry a hand gun AS LONG AS it's not concealed. BUT if you do plan on hunting with it, it has to be 4" for small games and 6" for big games. i carry my glock 27 40 SW with me all the time... Grab a thigh holster. I made my own and it rocks...
