just be careful in the spring. They usually come out of the dens and lounge for a day or two, you dont want to go walking around with out looking carefully. We were catching snakes for the National Zoo once and a guy found a den but didnt look around, then the whole hill errupted in rattles, he was screwed, probably 400+ snakes, he had snake boots on, must have been struck 100 times, thank god for the snake boots otherwise he would have been a gooner with that many strikes.
Ive seen that happen before. We have a big rattle snake round up in Sweetwater Texas every spring. When I was a kid, we would gas dens for extra cash. Ive seen the ground come alive with hundreds of snakes. We always wore snake gear. Been bit on the boots more than I can count. Its something to behold.
