The buck started out as a spike in the Adirondacks. After two or three years Alsheimer got permission from the DEC to tranquilize the deer and transplanted it to his property in western NY for his study. The story was amazing because the buck was not progressing well in the Adirondacks but under the right food and soil conditions it got to be a 170ish class and lived twelve years.
