I have a Renegade with a peep sight. A T/C Peep tang model. It was a fantastic shooter. But I would hate to count the number of deer I had to pass on in those last few minutes of the day when they seem to appear. I hunt shadows, and cedar/balsam marshes and you can not believe how dark it gets in them unless you've been in one.
I finally took it off and went back to iron sights. Maybe I should have went to a fiber optic front sight instead...
I love my peep sight but you are right as far as shadows and dusk. I found that blue paint shows up real well for me and I take out the peep in the shadows and just use the ghost ring. It works well and seems to be just as accurate up to 75 yards or less
