RE: best rain gear
Cabela' s MT050 is tuff, but not lightweight. No big deal if you are walking reasonable distances without a lot of gear. I took MT050 on a backpack Dall sheep hunt in the NWT of Canada. Big mistake. Pants/Jacket weigh almost four pounds and get soaked/clammy after a few hours in the rain. Try Frogg Toggs if still hunting as the pant/jacket combo weigh less than a pound, are 100% waterproof, and cost less than $100. I use Marmot or REI raingear for backpack hunts. I have also heard good things about Helly Hanson. You get what you pay for!
