FL/GA Hunter, there aren' t many Wal Mart stores that wouldn' t have 7mm-08 Rem ammo either. It isn' t any more expensive than 270 Win ammo. The 7mm-08 is finally coming into its own popularity wise and rightly so. It is an excellent cartridge.
I' m sorry but I have to disagree with this a bit. I regularly purchase .270 Rem Core Lokts at Walmart 130 grain for 9.97 a box. This is in season of course from around late October through early January. I have purchased 7MM-08 at the same Walmarts, during the same time periods for 14.97 a box. This is one of the main reasons I handload for the 7mm08 and use factory ammo in the 270.
Either rifle will be well suited for whitetails.
