Have not followed this thread but at you mention of buying a new scope might check this deal out. I bought one and put it on my White - I really like it - great optics

Down side - if you are recoil attentive the eye relief might not be enough for you. For me the relief as measures is about 3 and 3/4"

Second - not sure what you might have to pay for a S1 but you can get a Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40 dual X with Rain Guard lenses for around $170... Outstanding scope
