Default RE: Savage 10 FP

Went back to the range and now I think I have the savage doing what it is susposed too.I asked a gunsmith about the flimzy stock and the barrel touching the barrel when I laid it in the rest and he said I need to fill the channels up and bed the action but it would be a while before he could get to it.I got the idea of putting a steel washed on the front bedding block to hold the barrel off stock and he said that wouldn' t work but I am hard headed and wanted to try it anyway, haven' t shot it more thn 100 yds yet but the washer worked very well groups went from scarreting everywhere to small 5 shot groups.I don' t shoot as good as I did say say 20 yrs ago but I think these 5 shot groups are pretty good so far,I used 2 different powders and 3 different amounts of powder and got these groups at 100,.664,.625,.725..599,.542,.611and one .316. Let one fellow shoot a 5 shot group with it ( damn he could shoot,he was shooting clay birds with a 357 pistol open sights @100 yds and a liter pepsi bottle @200 ) and he got a .424 group.Dang he wanted to buy it and I haven' t even got it broke in yet.
