Friends who are outfitters in Alberta are starting to report booking cancellations. It' s not looking good. If you' ve got a hunt booked in Alberta, you might want to check with your outfitter what his policy is regarding this business of leaving meat, antlers, cape, etc. behind and whether he' ll give you a credit to a booking next year or not. You may wind up having to give up your deposit if he' s not flexible.

Personally, I can' t see booking a hunting trip and only being able to bring back pictures. Bringing back meat, cape, and the antlers is a significant part of the experience and I' d think that most hunters would think twice about giving these up without a fight.

Your choice is to wait and hope this is resolved or better, contact US Agriculture and make your voices heard.

Either way, I' m not optimistic that this will be lifted for this fall' s hunting season.
