I feel your pain. Last season i had the exact same thing happen to me, i put a beautiful shot on a quartering away buck and could not find more than a couple of droplets 500 yards away. I also found my arrow and it was covered in bright red blood. The only difference is that i saw where my arrow hit and i couldn't have placed it any better. 22 yards quartering away with a 2 inch rage placed perfectly and he made it as far as he did. Boggles my mind still to this day. I was out there looking for a week straight, all day and all night. I think i got about 2 hours sleep that week.

Just hang in there and keep looking. I found sign three days later in an area that i never would have thought he would go. Sometimes they do a big circle and end up somewhere off the map when fatally wounded.
