RE: Scope on a Hawken Rifle?
I never saw or used the Quic-kee Mount, but I've used abeefy aluminumclampmount withthe scope mounted forward scout style. The screwsonly neededto be tightened down to squeezethebarrel flats and it held just fine.Butthat specific model isn't available from Cabela's anymore - it wasdiscontinued long ago.
It was mounted ona 13/16th's .50 caliber barrel which made drilling & tappingnot advisable because the barrel walls were simplytoo thin.
If someone didn't prefer todrill & taptheir barrel, then a temporary mount is a viable option.
Andwhethera drill & tap job isdone well or not, the re-sale value of the riflemight be lowered.
