Default RE: Giving Out A Salute!

Does anyone else outside of the military, law enforcement or firefighters get thanked for doing the job they choose to do?
They do by me. After I joined the service I was trained to be more polite. I started thanking everybody for what they did to include everyone from the checkout girl at the base commissary to the IRS auditor the one year I got audited. There was a SNAFU and my brothers income got put under my SSN and I didn't report the income to the IRS. When we got it figured out, he helped me out and got it right. I thanked the police officer that pulled me over for speeding (after he gave me the ticket) and he ripped it up and gave me a warning. It's amazing how nice people will get when you thank them for doing their jobs.

BUT!, in the case of you all who are presently serving our country and putting your life on the line on foreign soil, that is not a choice a lot of people are willing to make and that puts you in a class above the rest of us Yahoo's as far as I am concerned.

From a crusty old Master Sergeant to everyone still serving - "You are all heroes in my book!"

PS - That's not embarassment, that's humility.
