Sika deer success!
I just got back from my first ever Sika deer hunt here in Maryland, and thought I'd share with you guys. This trip was kind of spur of the moment for us. Niether of us had any idea about hunting these things, so we read up everything we could find, and headed out over the holiday weekend. We had a great time, and met some great people on this trip. We also learned quite a bit about these minature elk. We lucked into a great spot that was loaded with sika's, but I think that was just because we were the only people dumb enough to paddle a canoe out that far across the bay. We should have ended up with at least 1 each, but we had some shooting trouble the first day. I shaved the back of a 4x4 stag the first night, and he missed a doe. Finally though on our last evening hunting I scored on this spike.
Here's a couple of pictures from the trip.
