I think I would go with the 300WSM with the 44 in a holster for close range work, and leave the 12 GA at home. IMO the 44 hits hard enough for close range work and the 300WSM has the legs if you need it.
I've been wanting to buy myself a 45-70 Guide Gun for several years for bear hunting...still working on that. My "go to" gun right now for bear hunting is a 338-06 but I've killed them with a 270, 280, 308 and 30-06 also.
I'd 2nd that reccomendation. 300WSM can really handle even the closer ranges with proper bullet selection and anything that's too close for a scope can easily be handled with a 44mag
