Default RE: Question on the .270

ORIGINAL: jmac33

always been a bowhunter and a shotgunner. I just got a Mossburg .270 as a gift. My question is Will any .270 shoot out the gun and does anyone have any recomandations on what ammo and grain size to use. I will be hunting deer with it. Anyfeed back would be great. Thanks

Good Hunting
ANY American-made .270 Win. ammo will shoot in it. So will MOST European made .270 Win. ammo. I used a .270 extensively during the 3 years I lived in Alaska. With the right bullets, a .270 will easily kill anything in North America-there was a woman inFairbanks when I was there who killed Polar bears with hers, using handloads withNosler 150-grain Partition bullets.

For deer in NY, I recommend using a 130-grain load. Doesn't really matter what brand. Test several makes, use the one that shoots best in your rifle.
