Course I do not really know much about the mechanics of an Optima, but with the Omega - you can take the breech assembly apart with a small screwdriver and the parts can be cleaned. You might be able to use a can of aerosol cleaner to was the material out then oil the assembly.

Here is a drawing of the Omega breech block - which probably will not help you a bit...
