Default RE: how many woods do you hunt?

My sons, friends and I hunt three different WMU' s here in NH. The total pieces of woods is about eight, some are private, non-posted and some public land. These areas are usually not big in area (1-3 square mile or so) and the same applies when we hunt Maine. In NH, it is almost impossible to get lost. Sooner or later you will come to a tar road, Maine however, is a different ball game. You can walk your life away in those swamps and logging roads. No compass in NH, usually no problem...No compass in Maine, bad idea! That' s why we write in the palm of our hands, the direction out...OUT- NW....not a bad habit to get into.
