Sounds like excitememt there mauser. Shooting or passing in your situation there was no wrong choice.

I finally seen a deer & then killed it
Nice doe. Perfect shot, no blood trail. She went a SOLID 150 yds on a double lung.Wefollowed kicked up leaves & bustedtwigs to find her.
