Cedar Oil question
After thinking more about a post that was made here last week about storing hunting clothing in a cedar lined closet, a buddy and mine were out hunting this past weekend and had a discussion/idea... Has anyone ever tried cedar oil as a cover scent/ bug control/ attractant? We both were wondering that given cedar's use as a natural pest repellent, and the fact that bucks love to rub-up cedar trees, why isn't it in use as some sort of cover/attractant with a natural repellent as a side effect? I know that cedar isn't normall "aromatic" unless sawn or cut, but, when a buck rubs-up a cedar, it releases it's scent (the tree) which gives the area of a fresh rub, the scent of cedar. If there was a dominant buck in the area, wouldn't he want to know who else would be rubbing up his trees?
