Vortex Pro Extreme or Rocky Mt Snyper??? 5shot
Hey there guys,
I am going to be ordering my broadheads either tonight or tommorow evening and I am trying to decide which ones to get. I was pretty much set on the Rocky Mt Snypers, but the Vortex Pro Extreme' s cutting diameter would be nice.
Now, my bow as of right now is shooting a 419.9 grain arrow at 302 f.p.s. I have decided that I am going to put in a peep sight and string leechs so, that is gonna slow me down to about 293-295 f.p.s. Shooting these arrows at 293 f.p.s. would give me 80 foot pounds of KE and shooting at 295 f.p.s. would give me 81 foot pounds of KE. At the absolute lowest, I will be shooting at around 288 f.p.s. which would give me 77 foot pounds of KE.
Now, I have heard the Snypers are awsome heads for flight and penetration. The thing is, with this type of KE, do I have to worry AS much about penetration? The Snypers have a 1-3/8" open cutting diameter and 5/8" closed cutting diameter where as the Vortex Pro Extreme 100' s have closed cutting diameter of 7/8" and a open cutting diameter of 2-1/2" cutting diameter. Like I said, I would think that I have more than enough KE for this head.
Here is my question. Does the Vortex perform and fly as well as the Snypers? Has anybody used them? What results? What kind of durability?
I definetly want a mechanical broadhead this year, but I am kinda leaning towards getting a larger cutting diameter since I will have enough KE.
Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.
