Default Diet, Exercise and the Reality of Terrafirma

Two and a half weeks ago I started a serious diet in an effort to take at least 50 pounds off for my sore knees so they will no longer have to lug it around. I decided to add to it an exercise program consisting or riding my mountain bike for approximately 30 minutes.

I had ridden it 4 different days, including this past Monday morning. I had just finished riding 5.7 miles in 28 minutes and was preparing to turn into our driveway. Unfortunately, I was going a bit too fast and took an approach that was too shallow. When I turned the front wheel to go up the driveway, it hit loose gravel and before I could bat an eyelash I went crashing down to the pavement.

The pavement chewed up an area about 2" x3" above my right elbow, and another area about 3" x6" below my right kneecap. I' m not in as much pain as I was Monday and Tuesday, but I am still uncomfortable. I can still shoot a bow though!!!

The knuckles on three fingers on my left hand (bow hand) also got gouged up pretty good somehow. But, since I only hold the bow with that hand, it isn' t a problem.

Morale of the story, 56 year old men shouldn' t try to ride bicycles like they were kids!!
