Default RE: CVA Wolf & BH 209 help please

ORIGINAL: blackheel

Tried working up a lighter load in the CVA Wolf for my Dad and didn't have much luck. I shot 240 grain XTP's with the supplied sabots over 80 grains of BH 209 with CCI primers. Couldn't get an acceptible hunting group at 100 yds. Suggestions please on maybe something load wise that has worked for someone here?DId have a hang fire on the last shot on the day, my first in about 20 shots with BH 209 from 2 different guns.

BTW in my Encore, got some great results with 110 grains of BH 209 over a SST in a low drag sabot. All shots at 100 yds within 1.5" of point of aim. Granted I was shooting at different portions of the target (center then small corners on the target) so I didn't have any great groups to show off.

blackheel, I just got some BH209 and tried it out in my Wolf last Wed. Large target was with 80gr, Barnes Expander MZ 300gr, Crushed Rib Sabot, and Winchester W209 primers. Target to the left was the same except with 90gr BH209. Shot#1 on thelarge was with a clean barrel. I measured the group and from the holes farthest away from each other they measured 1 1/8 inch center tocenteron both groups. This was just at 50 yards cause thats all I could shoot where I was at. I hope to take it out to 100 yd. sometime next week.
