Excellent advice from everyone. If you can go to your local airport and find a pilot/plane to take you up you will be amazed at the things you can see that aren't in the photo's. I fly and keep my own plane at my property. I go up at least once a week to just scout. You can easily see most trails and find corridors where they travel. Also easy to see where lots of trails converge. Of course fall/winter/spring is the best time. When the leaves fall off things are VERY easy to see. Might even get lucky and see where the big boy stays holed up!!!. Saw one two nights ago.
