RE: worth hunting? where?
thanx guys....a topo would help...i'll see what i can do...both sides of the creek are sloped down to the creek....its roughy 40-50yds between the crops and old field edges to give an idea of distance...
the crab apples are in somewhat of a dip...but once you cross the creek and head up the line marked oaks, its uphill till a little after the S in oaks and starts going down hill...then back up...you can see it in the topo....avoiding anything past the crabapples due to a backyard(you can see the yard and pine trees) and i know thats when the other stands start popping up...dont know if they are hunted...but dont wanna butt in either...) i do like that spot at the corned of the old field...i wouldnt be surprised if they used the old field pretty regularly...its hidden and somewhat grown...
i never actually "scouted" for deer in there....turkey hunted and did drives through there 1000 times...the whole area is deer territory....once the leaves are down i'll beable to see a good ways...id like to do some observing in there mon or tues next week....it is a good pinch point...i found it studying ariels looking for spots i overlooked....the oak ridge is nice but other stands and backyards make me wanna stay on the west side...
the patch of woods in the NW isnt huge...but it should hold deer..its a thicker woods and has food water and cover...hard to say where they bed because of so many thick areas...thats why i like the pinch point trying to catch them...food is everywhere too...i think during the seeking and chasing phases will be good...but i think anytime might be worth hunting that area....
i'll see if i cant crop a topo somewhat similar....
