RE: Our Fall Plot in So. IL
I'm in Clinton County. It really didn't cost a lot. We just used a brushhog to clean it up. Sprayed it. Disced it up. Let it come up and then sprayed it again. Then planted everything. We used a drill for the winter peas and winter oats and threw the other stuff out with a hand spreader. The drill we rented locally for $5/acre (can't really beat that). The night after we planted it, it rained 3/4" over the course of many hours. Then it rained off an on for the next few days. We planted it at the perfect time.
