Default RE: Does IR video scare deer???

ORIGINAL: 5littlemonkeys

What do U think?? I have been using Cuddeback flash cameras for years. Have had multiple night flash camera pitures of the same deer in 1 minute increments. Obviously, no video to see how they are reacting because it's dark.

I now have purchased an IR Cuddeback and I'm not too pleased. Some of the yearling bucks and doe groups don't seem to be bothered much by the red IR LED's lighting up to run the night video. But, every mature deer and some younger ones apear to get really spooked. You can see them stare at the camera a second or two and then haul_ _ _(butt).

Anyone else notice the same thing?
Positioning could be a factor. If you have it at eye level it can be seen. Once you angle from a straight view, the red glow isnt noticeable. Also you have to remember that some IR cams have filters that will click when they go in place and that can also spook the deer. Another factor is smell.......................
