Questions like this are why the bowhunter ed course should be mandatory in all states.

Thats a misconception, its a high %age shot. I've made it many times.
Deer don't turn broadside in Ky?
It is not a high percentage shot for the overwhelming majority of hunters.
Very small margin of error especially when compared to a broadside or quartering away.
Even when lucky and fatal, I bet the recovery rate is lower as well.
