Default RE: When to make a mock scrape ?

No, It is perfectly fine to use right now, just dont be intrusive on your stand site. Be sure to use your choice of scent killer and bring a pair of scent-free rubber gloves. It is also advisable to bring a rope/string that is non obtrusive. It is about dominance, and dominance does not play a key role in early october for most, but will later into october. First, find a suitable location with a branch about head high. If there are no branches available, you have your rope. Tie a branch to point to the ground, the closer to 90 degrees the better. Try to place mock scrapes in areas that you had previously seen scrapes in. Afterworking the ground up with a stick, be sure to remove the stick from the site, it is covered in scent. Directly under the limb, maybe even a partially broken live limb, spray your stuff, which will mostly be buck urine or doe urine, and then come back a week or two later to freshen it up. I plan on hunting my scrape sites in the middle of october when bucks start scraping hard. Good luck hunting.
