It all depends on how you hunt. If you are hunting in the woods, or possible fields and can handle the recoil of the 06 I am partial to the remington 700. However if you want a little less "kick"and will be mostly hunting fields the 270 might be a better answer. I personaly have a browning 270 and only shoot it when sitting on edges of fields because I haven't had much luck with it in the woods. If you ask around though the 30-06 is one of the most versatile calibers ever made.
