Anyone know how bad the hunting pressure is on Union Ridge or any of the other conservation areas in the northeastern part of the state? Keep in mind...we'll be there the 2nd week in October and be hunting Mon-Fri.
Go to the MDC website and browse the public hunting areas.

Many are archery only, and any of them would be a good bet if in the central or northern part of the state. You will likely be all alone during the week like that on any of the areas. Union Ridge, Indian Hills, Ted Shanks, Yellow Creek, Fountain Groove are some areas I have personnal knowledge of and I know are allgoing to be good. There is also one that the name slips me now, that some friends hunt, up in the very corner of MO, NE, and IA that borders the MO River that is loaded with deer. There are many, many more areas that would be worth a look for sure.

You may be able to secure some private ground but if you are short on time I would not hesitate to hunt our public ground.

Good post Robin, I considered a trip into that region until my buddy had some family issues (A DIVORCE) come up this summer, and had to pull outof the trip. Probably worked out for the best, since I had to have surgery 3 wks. ago anyhow, and I'm still not 100% sure how well I'll be in the woods.
