I would start off with a good quality pair of boots. I just broke in a pair of Danner Pronghorns, they sell for about $160-$170, they're less than 4 pounds, waterproof and comfortable right out of the box. Grab a few pairs of wool socks with some light weight liners underneath. You are going to be spending alot of time in your boots, if your feet are cold, wet or sore it doesn't matter what else you wearyou will be miserable. Throw a small role of cloth medical adhesive tape in your pack just in case you get a blister.
