Stingers shouldn't need any alignment help. Just screw them in, and if you want to check for straightness, cut two V notches in a shoe box at each short end, lay the shaft on it and spin it, checking for wobble.
With quality shafts and inserts, you shouldn't have to worry about this. Most of these issues are related to heads being glued on a shaft or adapter.
