Default RE: Advice for a beginner

edooley- As already said, do not get the MANLy syndrome and overbow yourself, 40-45# to start. I have hot clean through deer with a sharp broadhead with a 40# bow. First you should decide on recurve and/or longbow. Going from compound (as I have) is usually easier and less frustrating going to recurve first. the grip stay's the same. You will loose roughly and inch draw going from compound to shooting finger's with recurve. Get a good cheap bow first, one can be purshased on ebay for 50 to 75 dollars. Ensure the string is good, in doubt get a new one, I can help you with that. Get a dozen arrows, spined 5-10# heavier. Take your time and enjoy and work on good form first, aiming will come later. Any further questions and/or advice on bow's, purchasing, set-up, or anything else, feel free to contact me.
