Default RE: Swing and a miss....

ORIGINAL: DropTine249

Yup, I missed...

Dropped my brother off at his spot and then headed off down the road.

There were deer everywhere when I got to my spot, this morning. Crashing through the creek, wondering around the base of my tree...I thought, first light- its ON..

First light came- not a SINGLE deer in sight. I knew they would loop around so I held fast.

FINALLY, 3 doe work in. No shot presented because I did NOT trim shooting lanes (pro-IDIOT).

I end up getting a clear lane, estimated 35 yards. I draw, settle and release on a calm deer. My bow is quiet, but she ducked me....I even compenstated just incase she ducked.

Well, they run off about 40yards and calm down. I knwo the others will come around, no big deal, nock a new arrow and I'm good.

WELL, I hear walking to my left and I grab my bow..To my surprise, its a guy, in camo. So I yell, "yoo private property". He says he shot a deer and is looking and apologizes. I said no big deal, I'll help ya look.

He ended up being a great guy, hunts a little piece that belongs to our nieghbor...We looked and looked- ran into a TON of deer...He's going back.

So, I see this morning as a success, no deer, but I made friends with a nieghboring hunter and granted him access to the entire piece, should he choose.

Great morning !

Oh I totally forgot. My bro didnt score, but he passed up 4 fawns, because he wasnt sure which was the button and which was the doe , GOOD call. Very proud of him.

He also saw a pretty "nice" buck trashing some brush and rubbing a tree- this kid see more deer...
Damn I was hopeing to see some pictures of a light set up fatallity if you know what I mean!
