I usually use #8 and a skeet choke. Between a mojo dove set 30 yards out, and a dove call, I can usually get them in close. The skeet choke opens up the pattern so it's easier to hit them. Now, if they are far off, I either concentrate on calling them in or just leave them be. They'll be back.
hows the calling work for you?? any tips? i thought about stringing up a faux fenceline and putting some decoys and a few of those wind powered mojos, and seeing if that will bring those shy-flyby ones right on in
