Default Whitetail Institutes "secret Spot"

I have my 2 main plots in and they are coming along great. I planted them back in April and went through a really bad drought last month. I was worrying about them but the hurricane came by this weekend and perked them back up.

I also bought the "Secret Spot" seeds and planted them on Saturday. Those suckers are reaching for the sky. They are already 3-5 inches tall, but I have a problem. Leaves are starting to fall, and when I checked on them today they were covered in leaves. I hand picked them off (with gloves sprayed with scent killer). Should I just let nature take its course and let them grow with fallen leaves on top of them or every once in a while clear them. Its a real sweet spot, and suprised how fast they sprouted so I want to help them survive until they are mature enough to puch up through the falling leaves.

Anyone have any suggestions....besides cutting all the trees down around it?
