RE: Soft Yolk On Cables
Let' s try this again, the one I just did must have ended up in cyber world.
I have a soft yoke on my bow right now. I wanted to see if I liked it or not. Had to make a smaller bar to hold the posts as my string making posts were too far apart to allow me to make one. The only benefits I see on a soft yoke is that you can make it a larger diameter (more strands). Using 450 Plus I make a split yoke cable a 12 strand. That makes each leg of the Y only having 6 strands. Seems thin the first time you see it but it is plenty strong. My soft yoke would be 12 strands so twice the thickness. The other benefit would be cost for a buss cable only should be much cheaper (and about 1/2 the time to make). I don' t think the self centering is all that important. You can twist each leg of the split yoke up to center the cable with the cam. Years ago Hoyt served their soft yokes right above the buss cable and said then that it allowed adjusting of the legs of the soft yoke to center it. Now they don' t serve it (personally I think it is because it' s cheaper to not spend the time doing it) and say it centers itself. It' s up to what you feel more comfortable with.
Oh yeah, When I make up a new cable I will be making it as a split yoke, I just like it better. Just my personal preference and nothing against the soft yoke.
