Default real time shooting (again)

Season will be here soon and I have alot of rifles to check. So today I took out my Wolverine LK-II with the 2.5x20mm Simmons scope. Not much of a scope I used to think, but the more I shoot this thing I kind of like it. On that short little rifle it does a real good job.

The bullets I was testing today was all done with 80 grains of Graf's & Sons 2f black powder. You would not think that much of a powerhouse load but let me assure you, there is some punch to it. Where I was shooting at different angles and such, a Balsam tree about 14 inches on the base was in the way. Those bullets blew right through that tree like nothing.

I was shooting 250 grain Shockwaves, 250 grain PTX (remember them from T/C they are an XTP with a plastic tip), and Hornady 250 grain XTPs. To check the rifle I shot off a rest at 25 yards with some shockwaves. If I had not thrown that one shot, it would have been almost a perfect hole at that distance. Once I was sure the rifle was good, I moved the target to 50 yards. I shot off a walking stick and off a set of shooting sticks braced to a tree with a bungee cord.

The corner targets were shot off the single shooting stick. While I hit the small bulls eye, the targets were not near as impressive as off the shooting sticks on the tree. The top hole was the Shockwaves and that is three shots (then I ran out). The lower hole is the PTX and they were really doing a great job until I threw that one...

Over all this is a great tree rifle and will make an excellent stalking rifle as well. I know if a deer comes out at the 50 yards station it will be in a lot of trouble..
