I am thinking of something like a o-ring shaped gasket cut out of that cardboard gasket material you get at an auto parts store or some other material I haven't thought of yet.
I have often thought about the same thing... the new TC's use an "O" to complete their seal - but in the case of the normal breech plug I would worry about the heat + it might squeeae out of place as you tighten the BP... but now that you have brought it up - if you could find a teflon washer of the correct size and thickness - thenplace that betweenthe nose of the breech plug and the flange in the barrel.. that could really be a new concept.
My tape did not remain on the plug when I removed it like yours did sabotloader, maybe I did not round off the sharp edges on the threads enough because they seemed to cut the tape up.
That is not uncommon, for the bulk of the tape to remain in the barrel. The sharpness of the threads, both the threads of the BP and the threads in the barrel need to be polished to remove any machine sprurs. You will know when you got it because the bp will screw with equal pressure from the start to the end with the tape installed.
Remember, my main key is after installation - to look down the barrel and make sure that you see tape all the way around the face of the BP. i wish I could get a good picture of it to post.
just some thoughts...
