Default RE: I Know - It's A Sin

Hi guy. I'm still at my sister-in-law's and working with a very slooooowww laptop, so I hope I get this posted before this sucker shuts down on me.

The scope mounting unit I have was one of those made by TC, but is no longer available. It's a three part system made up of a base adapter plus aquick release base that screws on to the base adapter, and a one piece ring unit that snaps into thequick release base. The baseadapter ataches to the barrel usingthe two screw holes for the factory sight, plus a third hole right at the rear of the barrel (not the tang unit). You can remove the barrel with the whole unit in place - no problem. Some TC barrels have that third hole at the end of the barrel right over the breech plug, and some do not. If the barrel does not have the third hole you need to drill and tap one for the mount - not too big a deal really. I have it on my .45 GM LRHbarrel which already had the third hole.

Anyway, I got the original three-piece set by putting a "wanted" ad in the classified sections of several ML forums. One guy had the whole set, which I bought. Thenwhen the set showed up in the mail it turned out thatthe base adapter was not for a Renegade, but a Hawken. So I put another ad out there looking for someone who might want to swap a Renegade adapterfor a Hawken unit. That didn't happen, but I did have a contact offering to sell me a Renegade base, which I bought. So that's the story. Anyway, I still have the base adapterfor a TC Hawken (see picture in link below), but no quick release base or ring set to go with it.

And yes, TC sent me a new lock attached to the contoured hammer. It's a real nice looking hammer too. I'll post pictures when I return home. The lady I talked to at TC said they had "a lot" of the hammers available. I didn't ask about left hand ones, butthe scope base unit I have will only work with a right hand gun. I don't know if they made them for left hand guns, but I sorta` doubt it. If they didn't make a left hand scope base there would have been no need for lefthand contoured hammers. Maybe another forum member will know the answer to that one.
