I went to the range and my hand did not have alot of room. it hurt my wraist shooting two handed. I went back to the shop and the guy let me trade it in on a shotgun. even gave me all my money back on it

Buy the gun that fits YOUR hand. For the most part any of the major brands will be quality so find the model that fits YOU. If it doesn't fit your hand, it's not going to be comfortable to shoot nor accuarte for you.
Were it me and had a $500 max, I'd go with a Ruegr Sp101 but then I'm a revolver person.
