I used the gold magnums before that weigh 600 grns. I wasn't impressed to tell you the truth. Just put a big hole right through the deer. Didn't to a lot of internal damage and the deer ran 90 yards before dropping. I shot it at 20 yards through the lungs. I am sure a shoulder hit would have ruined it's day though.

I have noticed the more expensive controlled expansion bullet actually perform better on game and o more internal damage than a soft lead slug. Either will kill deer though.
