I will be hunting from the ground this year on state land. I scouted this property 6 weeks ago and found a 12 foot deep X 10 foot wide ditch that the deer are using from the swamp to the upper grassy field. I decided to build a natural ground blind set back from the edge from fallen branches and such. I will be down wind and hidden until it is too late for them. I have hunted from a tree stand for the last few years but, with being stuck in the public land, I am afraid of theft. I had a stand stolen 2 years ago.
